What we've been up to...

I can't believe that the summer is almost half over! This year it seems to be just flying by. I'm pretty sure it is because we have been so stinkin' busy! Not bad busy, though. We've been having a lot of fun. I have wanted to blog about a million things over the last few weeks but it has been really hard to find time to sit down and do it. So, here's a little recap...

I debated whether or not to take Lily and Owen down to Mona for Lavender Days this year. We had such a good time last year, so I ended up deciding that we need to go. Luckily, it was not nearly as hot and it was not such an ordeal to get tickets to the Fairy Tea Party. Lily got a lot more into it this year. She even went up front and performed a dance with the fairies! When they passed out the lavender lemonade and lavender cookies, Lily had to fight Owen off. He wanted some too! Oh well, I guess she'll just have to get used to it. That's what having a younger brother is all about! Next year, Owen will be old enough to go to the Knight party, so we'll have to bring Todd along so they can go together.

Our neighbors invited us to go camping with them up American Fork Canyon. I wasn't too thrilled about the idea of trying to get my kids to sleep in a tent, so we just went up for the afternoon. It was fun to get a little taste of camping without actually having to do anything. Lily had so much fun running around and playing with her friends. We enjoyed a yummy lunch while Owen had a great time tasting the finest dirt AF canyon had to offer. Maybe next year I'll be brave enough to try spending an entire night!
One of our family goals for the summer is to work on building up our food storage. Our Church suggests that every family have a years supply of food stored up. I have been thinking a lot about it with the rising cost of food and I just want to feel better prepared. So, we are using our economic stimulus check to start stocking up. This was one of our loads from Target. I usually don't arrange my groceries neatly on the table like this, but I wanted to take a picture for the blog. All of that cost us $205!! I was amazed! And that included a package of $20 diapers and my $8 deodorant. (That's so I won't sweat it if there is an emergency! Get it?) I always put off food storage because I thought that it would be too expensive. But, Target has some pretty good prices on canned goods. Now, we have to start working on all of the basics, like flour, sugar, beans, and rice. Hopefully, by the end of the summer I will feel a little more prepared!

For family night a few weeks ago, we met up with Uncle Roger and Chris at a park so the guys could play basketball. Grandma Gigi and I tried to keep Lily and Owen at the playground for as long as possible, but they were too curious about the basketball game. Chris and Roger took a little water break while Todd played around with Lily and Owen. In a few years, Todd will have to watch out because these two are going to be pretty good little basketball players!

And this is becoming a common sight at our house. With so many fun activities going on, Lily and Owen get totally worn out every day! They will just fall asleep whenever and wherever they feel like it.

Looks like you've also been up to redoing the blog! I love the new look!

Way to go on the food storage. I just hate that you have to keep doing it. We had a ton, and now we've eaten most of it.

We hope to be a part of your summer fun again soon!
