Ecstatic...

Lily's big birthday present this year was a bike. Instead of wrapping it up for her we decided that we were going to build it and leave it in the kitchen, so she would come down for breakfast and find it waiting there for her. Todd stayed up late last night putting her new, pink princess bike together and we put it right in the middle of the kitchen floor. When we woke up this morning, the four of us headed down to the kitchen. Lily walked into the kitchen, turning on the lights as she went. In my mind I imagined her showing a little bit of excitement as soon as she saw her new bike. Instead, she flipped on the light and without any hesitation, in a very matter-of-fact voice, she said, "I have a bicycle now." And that was it!! We got a pretty good laugh over how serious she was about the whole thing. We are going to have to work on her excitement level a little bit more or Christmas is going to be pretty boring at our house!
