Owen is going green...

It seems like everyone is "going green" now days. Since Owen is a very environmentally conscious 11 month old, he is doing his part. His rear end is now totally green, and it's not just the color of his diaper. We made the switch over to cloth diapers last week and so far, things are great! When I first started talking about switching over I got a lot of really funny looks from people. Along with the question, "Are you crazy?". I am definitely not crazy and I did a lot of research before I bought them, so I knew exactly what I was in for. I wanted to switch for a couple reasons, the biggest one was to save money. I am sick of buying diapers every week just to watch them end up in trash can.
I spent a lot of time trying to figure out which brand to go with. There are so many great kinds out there. They are not the same kind of cloth diapers that our parents used, that's for sure! The brand I ended up choosing was Fuzzi Bunz. Who wouldn't want to put their child in a diaper called Fuzzi Bunz? They are just as soft and cozy as they sound too! So far, I have been really impressed with them. Owen leaked just a little the first night that he wore them, but we doubled the inserts and he hasn't had a problem since then.
It has taken me a few days to get used to the whole process of cloth diapers. I have been surprised at how easy it has been. We've also been working on potty training Lily (that is adventure that will be it's own post!) so, hopefully we are completely done buying disposable diapers! Hallelujah!!

I'm going to join in and say you are brave but smart about the diapers, and I love all of your pictures on here what a great talent you have. Oh and by the way you can peek at our blog anytime!

Why is everyone encouraging you to do it? The only comments that I have gotten are to leave cloth diapers to my grandmother and to try different diaper rash treatments rather than going to cloth (as if I haven't tried enough rash treatments already!)!!! Am I THAT incompetant?!? :)

The cloth diapers of the past are so icky, so I am glad that you've found something that works so good! I don't know that I am that brave yet... we may just try to potty train Malia by the time she is one ;)

Way to go!!! I'm very impressed. I'd heard the cloth diapers had gotten better. I still don't know if I could have done it. Although, I don't miss the diapers on my grocery bill......
