A half-marathon and a haircut...

There is no better way to start your day than to drag yourself out of bed at 3 am and run a half-marathon. What is more fun than a scenic jog down Provo Canyon with two thousand of your closest friends? Well, I don't know about you, but I would rather have the extra sleep! I wasn't too thrilled about the whole 3 am thing or the running 13 miles thing. Other than that, I had a great time! I really do like running races and I have done several . The part that I usually struggle with is being diligent enough to train for the race. This time is was pretty easy because of my great training partners! Mandy and Jami totally motivated me to get out there and go on those dreaded long runs. It was always a lot more fun to run when I had my friends to chat with the whole time. And I guess we were successful in our training because all of us finished the race this morning. Jami was super speedy, but Mandy and I weren't too far behind. Our finish time was around 2:15. As Lily would say, "Not too shabby!". Speaking of Lily, her hair has been driving me nuts lately! We have been trying to grow out her bangs for the past few months. They are getting closer to the point where they will blend in with the rest of her hair, but for now they just hang in her eyes. Most of the time I have to put her hair up because I had no idea what to do with it. I'm not really experienced with straight hair. I finally had enough of the craziness and so we made an appointment at Cookie Cutters this afternoon. I was a little skeptical at first, but they did a really great job. Lily played on the slide while she waited her turn. When they called her name, she went over and picked out a Disney Princess movie to watch. Then she picked her car to sit in. Her first choice was a fire truck. The lady who cut her hair did a really good job and amazingly enough Lily sat really still during the whole haircut. She was really excited about the balloon and sucker at the end. I was really excited that my daughter's hair doesn't look like this anymore:
Before...
During...

...and after!! Much better, huh?

Haha, I am thinking now that I would rather have had the sleep, too, but it was too fun! By the way, it looks like I have bra sweat in the picture, but I promise it was the water I poured all over myself! Lily's hair is adorable. Fun day!

Good for you guys. I wish I had that kind of motivation and strength to do something like that. Good Job!
Elli loved cookie cutters for her haircuts and they do a pretty good job I think. Lily looks darling!
