Owen is a really happy baby. He has had the worst luck with his ears, but you can't ever tell that he is in pain. For the last five months he has constantly had an ear infection. We have been on six different rounds of antibiotics and it never really went away. When we went to our
pediatrician last week for Owen's nine month appointment, he decided that we had to put tubes in. I know lots of people whose kids have tubes, but I never realized what a process it was. Since Owen had to be put under for the surgery he had to fast after midnight last night. It was a rough night! I think Todd only got an hour or two of sleep. We had to be at
LDS hospital at 7:30 this morning. When we got there, Owen was in a great mood. He was happy and was smiling at all of the nurses. We went into a room and they had us change him into a little hospital gown. It was so strange to see him in it with the little tag on his ankle! When it was time to go, they came and picked him up in a wagon filled with blankets. Owen loved his ride down the hall in the wagon. The hardest part of the whole day for me was when I had to hand him off to the anesthesiologist. The entire procedure only took about fifteen minutes. I got to go back to be with him right after he woke up. When I walked in, Owen was standing trying to wiggle away from the nurse. His little face was so white and he was screaming. As soon as he saw me, he kept crying but not quite as loud. After a few minutes, they took Owen and I to another room where we got to be with Todd. Finally, Owen got to eat! He was so hungry that he ate way too much and ended up throwing it all back up again. Then he fell right asleep. He woke up as we were leaving the hospital and he has been in a great mood ever since. I am glad that the surgery is done and that it all went so well. I am also really proud of Owen! It was a tough day for him, but he did a really great job!

I'm glad that's over and hope it will help. He looks adorable in his little gown and wagon. What a trooper to fast for so long! I can't even do that hardly as an adult!

You have to admit he looks so adorable in that hospital gown! I haven't talked to you in so long I had no idea you ended up having to do the tubes. I just hope they work for the little guy!
We need to get together, we always say that but never do! Let's plan something!
